• paint is my passion •
My training started in 2008 with a diploma in interior design from Design School of South Africa where I graduated in 2012. My involvement in the paint industry since 2008, taught me that paint and color is so much more than just a thing. It's a memory, a feeling. It's such a big part of who we are. It's what makes us tick!
Working in the Paint Industry, I learnt how to create different moods and how to feel the paint around me. With all of this I learnt what goes into, the correct application of paint on different surfaces and what products to use when and where.
I then further specialized in colour and colour moods by qualifying as a Professional Colour Consultant. This opened my creative eye even more and I realized that I could transform lives through paint and colour. This is where I started doing Paint Techniques (2009). I started by revamping people’s homes one room at a time, many clients became recurring clients and wall techniques spilled over into furniture revamping.
In 2011 I decided that Paint Techniques is my passion and I wanted to learn more about the finer details of the art. I attended all and any workshops and courses available at that time that had anything to do with paint techniques. And then I the found a course that changed my life and helped me to know exactly what my road forward will be. I qualified as a Paint Technique Specialist in 2012
From there I decided that it will be my mission to teach people the wonders of paint and paint techniques, I wanted everyone to know how to make their homes beautiful with only a lick of paint and also wanted to show them that it does not have to cost you a fortune. That is how my first Beginner Paint Technique Workshops Started.
In 2016 my dream came true: I received a phone call from a lady who said she loves what I do and after attending one of my workshops wanted to interview me. I thought it was strange, but I said yes, and we set a date. On the day of the meeting I was so nervous as I was not sure what to expect of this ... It turned out she was the director of the TV show Pasella. I was going to feature on TV!
She was so impressed with what I offered that she asked me if I would like to present a piece of my Beginners Workshop to the Pasella audience. I said YES! I prepped and planned and got all the props ready for my big day ... and what a day it was. I painted a lovely tea tray with a basic technique and stencil work. Who knew this would take a whole day of shooting … but what an experience!
In August, 2016 I teamed up with our leading, 100% local brand, Granny B’s Old Fashioned Paint. I am editor of their online Let’s get Chalking magazine, brand ambassador and do their presentations, demonstrations and courses. We aim to teach the teachers. To empower other creatives to use products correctly, creatively and just be inspiring.
Painting is more than my job, it’s my passion.
